Corporate Headshot clothing

I have been shooting for Corporate Headshots now since 2009 when I opened my first studio. A question I have been asked many a time since then is “What should I wear to my photoshoot”.

Now you would think, being the lovely person that I am, I would reply “anything you like”. However, that wouldn’t be the right thing to tell you.

  1. Wear something comfortable.

Check, before your session, that your jacket fits! Your shirt isn’t too tight! The sleeves aren’t too long! If you don’t feel comfortable in your clothing it will show!

2. Avoid colours that may clash with your branding.

The chances are you are going to be uploading your wonderful headshots to your website. Imagine your bright orange web banner with you in your favourite green shirt! Get the picture?

3. Don’t wear branded clothing, unless of course, it is your branding!

You’re not intending to promote Nike, Addidas, Castore etc.

4. Dress according to your role.

If you wear a uniform and that’s how clients see you, wear your uniform. If you are a sports trainer, don’t turn up in a suit.

When you are thinking about your corporate headshot clothing it doesn’t just have to be one outfit. You are more than welcome to bring along a change of clothing. Either a full outfit, or as many do, just a change of top.

This can give you a completely different look on your images. You can see here Amanda brought along 3 tops and a jacket and swapped them around. This way she can use these images and they don’t look like the were all taken at the same time. A bit of variety to use in your posts and on your website.
